At Highland Machine, we use CNC machining to shape your product into the perfect configuration, machined to your exact specifications. Whether you need 10 pieces or 1,000, we have the machining capabilities to handle any size production run.
Why work with Highland Machine for sheet metal machining
We precisely machine products made from a wide variety of materials, including steel, aluminum, cast iron, brass, magnesium, and plastics. Our team uses decades of combined experience to create your parts accurately and consistently run to run. We offer fast turnaround times on precision machining projects to help you quickly scale up production. Machining operations are often an outside service for many sheet metal fabricators. Here at Highland Machine, we have both capabilities in house, helping you to reduce shipping costs and avoid delays.
We handle CNC milling in Illinois and throughout the entire country. No matter where you are, we can provide precision machining for your project!
Computer numerical control machining, or CNC machining, is used to transform metal and other materials into custom designed parts or components. The two primary types of CNC machining are CNC milling and CNC turning. Both methods use computer software to input the desired specifications of the final product and then control the cutting tools.
CNC machines cut and shape material using grinders, lathes, and turning mills that are connected to and regulated by a computer program.
- CNC milling works by progressively removing material from the workpiece with a multi-point cutting tool. The object being cut remains stationary, while the cutting tool moves freely around three axes.
- CNC turning is a manufacturing process in which bars of metal or other material are held and rotated while a cutting tool is fed to the piece to remove material and produce the desired shape and specifications.
At Highland Machine, we provide CNC machining for companies in Illinois and throughout the United States. Our team will determine the best methods for your product based on the materials used and your specific project requirements. Once your component is precision machined, we also have custom finishing and assembly services to produce a finished product.
